The Metroland Daily newspapers (Hamilton Spectator and Waterloo Region Record) are currently seeking a full-time Audience Development Sales Representative.
The successful candidate will be accountable for acquiring new home delivery sales/e-edition sales for both daily papers through various strategies. This role requires hands on approach by maintaining and growing existing client relationships and generating leads for new opportunities within the market. In addition, this will entail networking with key decision makers of local businesses.
Accountable for consistently attaining and/or surpassing circulation home delivery sales targets.
Design projects to acquire new business relationships with both corporate and independent retailers
Create and execute newsstand and subscription promotions, contests and sales campaigns through retail and community events
Prospect for new accounts, source leads, cold call, and research to generate sales in multi-media platforms
Consistently attain and/or surpass sales targets and hitting revenue targets
Develop and maintain strong business relationships with clients to build business opportunities
Provide professional customer service in ensuring superior client satisfaction at all times
Create proposals and circulation sales solutions through compelling business cases
Work with the Circulation team in a supportive, team-orientated environment to meet department goals
As part of this role, you will be required to handle credit card information. Metroland Media is PCI compliant company, and requires people in this role to take PCI training to handle cards in a safe and compliant manner
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Possess a minimum of 1 year Sales experience with a proven history of generating sales and surpassing sales targets
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent presentation skills
Proven experience in problem solving and strategic thinking with the ability to make quality decisions in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
Comfortable challenging the status quo and expressing ideas
Extensive experience using social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) to engage customers, promote sales campaigns and solicit sales
Motivated self-starter, with a positive attitude and a discipline to work independently to achieve sales targets
Proficient with Microsoft Work, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Valid Driver's license and reliable vehicle required
Flexibility to work scheduled shifts during the evening and weekends to visit retail locations, consumer shows & events
Degree or Diploma in Business, Advertising or Marketing an asset
