THE OPPORTUNITY

 

Located in Hamilton, we are seeking a Graphic Designer to build best-in-class creative for the 3M+ consumers that visit us each month to get the very best deals on groceries, electronics, entertainment, travel, and more! This position reports to the Graphics Manager, and will work collaboratively with a wide range of groups across the Digital division.

 

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Collaborate with the Graphics team and other members of digital production to complete campaign objectives and requirements for all online advertising creation.
  • Interpret the client's/marketing project’s business needs and develop a concept to suit their purpose.
  • Contribute ideas and design artwork to the overall brief.
  • Be accountable for brand consistency across campaigns and assets, website, mobile, email and other marketing programs.
  • Create graphic design pieces as required for each brand, ensuring design integrity and brand alignment (this includes campaigns, social assets, print ads, web, mobile, etc.).
  • Create layouts with strong typography and appropriate use of colour, images and fonts, allowing for readability of type.
  • Participate in project meetings relating to appropriate graphics methods/techniques to meet project requirements.
  • Ensure all files are designed for online purposes.
  • Follow usability principles for all digital design projects.
  • Be detailed in your organization of projects. This includes obtaining info for the creative briefs from Managers, stakeholder negotiating project specs and deadlines to create timelines, and defining a schedule including changes for client approval.
  • Balance and manage own workload according to the established business priorities.
  • Cooperate and interact with other designers and seek feedback/input.
  • Keep up to date with new technology & media.

 

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • A Post-Secondary education in Graphics/Web/Multimedia Design or a related field.
  • 2-3 years demonstrated interactive design/development experience.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, Wordpress knowledge is an asset.
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite – Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Typography.
  • Knowledge of web design processes and best practices, including image optimization, responsive design, interest in UI/UX is an asset.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently and operate in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Open-minded and able to use/give constructive feedback.
  • Self-starter with hands-on approach.
